Material:
Computers with Clip Arts, self-made invitations with a Clip Art picture,
printer, paper, pens.
Steps:
The nursery
school teacher meets the children at the computer in the explorers lab. She
shows the children an invitation with an inserted picture from Clip Art.
The children see that the
picture has been made with the computer. The nursery school teacher explains
that there is a program with pictures and that this program is part of the
word-processing program.
A child boots the computer
and explains what he or she is doing.
The children point to the
symbol of the WORD program, a child opens it by double-clicking the left
mouse button.
The nursery school teacher
shows the children where they can find the pictures.
A child opens the Clip Art
program and the children look at some pictures.
How can we make the
pictures appear on a sheet of paper? The nursery school teacher shows how the
Clip Art pictures are inserted into a document. Each child picks one picture and
inserts it into the document, if possible without help.
The nursery school teacher
shows how the size of the pictures can be changed and how they can be moved.
The children change their
picture in size and position. Each child may insert a second picture and work
on it.
The children explain how it
is printed and they print their pictures one after the other. A child
describes how to exit the program and to shut down the computer.
The children paint pictures
for the computer manual, so that other children may also learn how to insert
pictures. The children repeat the different steps of working with the Clip
Art program and decide which picture each child will paint so that all
important procedures are covered and documented.
