Set of Activities: The tree and our kindergarten - we take photos.

Starting point: the children’s interest in nature, the

tree in the kindergarten playground and the desire of the children to take photos.

The set follows the situational approach in so far as the desire to take photos of the flowering tree can be understood as a key situation. In addition the set is conceived holistically. The children learn something about nature that surrounds them, they gain new experiences with language, extend their vocabulary and train their motor skills by

tinkering or learning to keep still when they are holding the camera. Furthermore their visual

perception is trained. Apart from handling the medium of the camera the emphasis of this set, however, should be on the understanding of the scientific-technical bases of a camera! Accordingly, the set is conceived in such a way that it leads to scientific-technical

content. The nursery school teacher ensures that the children become active and discover new things. To that extent he / she may volunteer with his / her own suggestions.

The individual experience situations follow the principle of discovery

learning.

The set should be worked through with a group of 6 children maximum.

It is also conceivable that different groups would work on different

activities.

A kindergarten party with guessing games devised by the children for the children (guessing photos), and an exhibition of the self-made cameras and photos can conclude the set of activities!

Activity 1: Effects of light.

Activity 2: Making pretend cameras.

Activity 3: Making a pinhole camera.

Activity 4: A real camera!

Activity 5: Taking photos.

Activity 6: Taking photos for a guessing game.
